Intro

Imagine the crisp, thin air of the Bernese Oberland translated into music. This is a world where traditional Swiss folk isn't a museum piece, but a living, breathing celebration. The sound is dominated by Melanie Oesch's extraordinary vocal control, moving from a warm chest voice to a piercing, lightning-fast falsetto yodel that feels more like a lead instrument than a vocal performance.

What sets them apart is the familial tightness of the arrangement. Because they are a multi-generational family unit, the interplay between the accordion, guitar, and bass feels intuitive rather than rehearsed. It is 'Volksmusik' with a modern pop sheen, stripping away the kitsch to focus on technical virtuosity and infectious rhythmic energy that borders on bluegrass in its speed and precision.

Start with 'Jodelzirkus' to hear the group at their most playful and technically daring. It is the perfect entry point for anyone who thinks they know what yodeling sounds like but hasn't heard it performed with this level of contemporary pop sensibility and athletic vocal skill.

Oesch's die Dritten is a yodel volksmusik family group from the Bernese Oberland, Switzerland. It consists of its lead vocalist and yodeler Melanie Oesch (born 14 December 1987), her mother Annemarie (born 8 February 1963), her father Hansueli (born 1958), her two brothers Mike (born 1989), Kevin (born 1990), Urs Meier (born 1980) and Heinz Haldi. The words die Dritten refer to the third generation, after grandfather Hans and parents Hansueli and Annemarie.
