Night Tempo

High-energy disco loops and shimmering synths that feel like a neon-soaked night in 1980s Tokyo. Future funk with a heavy heart and a heavy beat.

Intro

Night Tempo creates a sonic world that feels like a lost VHS tape of a high-budget 80s anime. It is music that lives in the intersection of memory and fantasy, taking the polished, sophisticated sounds of Japanese City Pop and supercharging them with modern dance floor energy. The result is a glossy, high-definition nostalgia that feels both familiar and impossibly bright.

What sets him apart is his meticulous curation of Showa-era aesthetics. While other future funk producers might just slap a beat over a sample, Night Tempo re-engineers these tracks into something more aggressive and euphoric. He uses heavy side-chain compression to make the kick drums pump, layers in shimmering synth textures, and weaves in dialogue clips that evoke a very specific sense of urban loneliness transformed into a celebration.

Start with the 'Show Groove' series if you want to hear his transformative touch on classics like Mariya Takeuchi, or dive into 'Fantasy' for a full-length immersion into his original production style. It is the perfect soundtrack for when you want to feel like the protagonist of a stylish, fast-paced city drama.

Jung Kyung-ho (Korean: 정경호; born February 14, 1986), better known as Night Tempo (Japanese: ナイト・テンポ; Korean: 나이트템포), is a South Korean future funk producer known for his Showa Groove series of remixes of 1980's Japanese city pop.
