Muro

Muro is a foundational pillar of the Spanish heavy metal scene, specifically credited with pioneering the speed metal subgenre within the Iberian Peninsula. Formed in 1984 in the Vallecas district of Madrid, their sound emerged as a high-velocity evolution of the 'Heavy Rock' style popularized by Barón Rojo and Obús.

Their debut, 'Acero y Sangre' (1987), was a landmark live recording that showcased a level of aggression and tempo previously unheard in Spanish-language music, drawing heavily from the 'New Wave of British Heavy Metal' and early German speed metal like Accept. Throughout their career, they have maintained a reputation for raw, high-energy performances and a steadfast commitment to the 'metalero' identity. Despite lineup changes, most notably the departure and return of iconic vocalist Silver, Muro remains a symbol of street-level resistance and sonic intensity. Their influence is felt across the modern 'New Wave of Traditional Heavy Metal' (NWOTHM) and remains a touchstone for Spanish-speaking metal fans worldwide.
