Gritty industrial metal that balances mechanical aggression with a deep, melodic melancholy. Perfect for rainy nights and processing internal friction.
Misery Loves Co. emerged from Uppsala, Sweden, in 1993, quickly becoming a pivotal act in the European industrial metal scene.
Formed by Patrik Wiren and Orjan Ornkloo, the band bridged the gap between the abrasive mechanical sounds of Ministry and the more melodic, groove-oriented metal of the mid-90s. Their signing to Earache Records placed them at the center of a movement that included peers like Pitchshifter and Godflesh, yet they maintained a distinct identity through their focus on personal, often bleak lyrical themes regarding relationships and mental anguish. Their sound evolved from the thrash-influenced hostility of their 1995 debut to the more experimental and moody textures found on 'Happy?' and 'Your Vision Was Never Mine to Share.' After a long hiatus starting in the early 2000s, the band returned in 2016, eventually releasing 'Zero' in 2019, which proved their ability to modernize their signature 'cold' sound for a new era. They remain a cult favorite for their unique ability to make industrial music feel deeply human.
