Marteria

Deep baritone flows meeting shimmering electronic production. Anthemic German rap that balances stadium energy with introspective, maritime soul.

Intro

Marteria sounds like the exact moment a massive festival crowd catches its collective breath before the drop. His music is anchored by a commanding, gravelly baritone that feels both authoritative and approachable. The production is often lush and cinematic, blending the punch of modern hip-hop with the shimmering textures of indie-electronica and synth-pop. It is music that feels equally at home in a dark club or an open-air stadium.

What truly sets him apart is his dual identity. While Marteria delivers anthems about society, nature, and the passage of time, his alter ego Marsimoto explores a trippy, high-pitched, weed-infused world of green-tinted psychedelia. This duality allows him to pivot from profound social commentary to surrealist humor without losing his core identity. His lyrics often lean into his roots in Rostock, using maritime imagery to ground his more cosmic sonic explorations.

Start with the album Zum Glück in die Zukunft. It is the definitive blueprint for his sound, featuring the massive hits that redefined German rap in the early 2010s. From there, explore the more electronic-heavy 5. Dimension to hear his evolution into a more club-oriented space, or flip to a Marsimoto record if you want something significantly weirder.

Marten Laciny (born 4 December 1982), better known by his stage name Marteria, is a German rapper. He has met with success in Germany (his 2012 collaboration with Yasha and Miss Platnum, "Lila Wolken", reached Number 1 in the German music charts) and the single "Verstrahlt", featuring Yasha, was included in the video game FIFA 12. His alternative stage name and alter ego is Marsimoto. Before his music career, he was a football player and model.
