Manifest

Manifest is a Norwegian metal outfit formed in Trondheim in 2000, representing a specific cross-section of technical thrash and death metal often referred to as 'groove-thrash.' Emerging during a period when Norwegian metal was diversifying beyond its black metal roots, Manifest carved out a niche through high-intensity live performances and a focus on rhythmic complexity.

Their sound identity is defined by the interplay between Ole Marius Larmerud's syncopated guitar work and Alessandro Elide's precise, often progressive drumming. Over their career, they have evolved from the raw aggression of 'Half Past Violence' (2005) to the more polished, structurally ambitious 'Hedonism' (2007) and 'Written in Blood' (2010). Critically, they are noted for their ability to maintain a 'deadly cocktail' of melody and anger, a balance that earned them slots at major festivals like Wacken Open Air and Inferno. While they share DNA with the Swedish death-thrash scene, their emphasis on mid-tempo crushing grooves aligns them more closely with the technical side of the New Wave of American Heavy Metal, albeit with a distinct Scandinavian grit.
