Lust for Youth

Lust for Youth is the project of Swedish musician Hannes Norrvide, later expanding into a collaborative effort with figures like Loke Rahbek and Malthe Fischer. Originating in the Gothenburg noise scene, the project's trajectory is a notable case of 'noise-to-pop' evolution.

Early releases were defined by primitive electronics and lo-fi aggression, aligning with the Posh Isolation label's aesthetic of industrial-tinged coldwave. However, by the mid-2010s, specifically with the release of 'International', the sound shifted toward a polished, melodic synth-pop that drew comparisons to New Order and Pet Shop Boys, albeit with a darker, more cynical edge. This transition solidified their position as leaders of the contemporary Scandinavian electronic underground. Critically, they are praised for their ability to balance pop accessibility with a persistent sense of dread and alienation. Their influence is felt across the modern darkwave and 'indie-sleaze' revival scenes, bridging the gap between underground experimentalism and dancefloor-oriented electronic music.
