Los Auténticos Decadentes

Chaotic, celebratory ska-rock that feels like an Argentine street carnival. Irreverent anthems for late nights, loud parties, and singing until your voice gives out.

Intro

Imagine a massive street parade crashing into a punk rock club and you are halfway to the sound of Los Auténticos Decadentes. Their music is a vibrant, messy, and deeply affectionate collage of Argentine culture, blending the upbeat skank of ska with the rhythmic thumping of murga and the sentimental melodies of traditional cantina songs. It is music that refuses to take itself seriously while being technically masterful in its ability to move a crowd.

What truly sets them apart is their 'decadent' spirit: a mix of irony, kitsch, and genuine heart. They possess a unique ability to write songs that function simultaneously as satirical jokes and earnest anthems. Whether they are mocking the rock star lifestyle or celebrating the absurdity of everyday romance, their horn-heavy arrangements and terrace-style choruses create an atmosphere of radical inclusivity where everyone is invited to the party.

Start with their 1989 debut 'El milagro argentino' to hear the raw energy that ignited their career, or dive into their 'MTV Unplugged' session to appreciate how these rowdy carnival songs translate into sophisticated, multi-layered arrangements. They are the ultimate 'fiesta' band, essential for any moment that requires high energy and a touch of irreverent humor.

Los Auténticos Decadentes (Spanish for "The Authentic Decadents") is an Argentine band that mixes ska with Latin American rhythms. The band was formed around the year 1986 by Cucho and Nito, who invited Gastón to join them. Their first hit was Veni Raquel, which set the tone for the irreverence and ironic humor of their later lyrics. Many of their songs are classic anthems of the Argentine nightlife, such as Corazón, Loco (Tu Forma de Ser), Entregá el Marrón, La Guitarra, Los Piratas and El Murguero. For some of their hit songs and videos, the Decandentes have engaged many Argentine icons such as former soccer referee Guillermo Nimo and the later candombe singer Alberto Castillo. As they draw from traditions such as canzonetta, murga bands and cantina songs, they are popular with many generations.
