Cinematic art-pop with a dark, theatrical edge. Sharp synths and defiant vocals for when you're done playing nice and ready to burn it all down.
Lola Blanc creates music that feels like a high-budget psychological thriller condensed into three-minute pop songs. Her sound is defined by a polished, maximalist approach to electropop, where shimmering synth layers meet heavy, driving percussion. There is a distinct sense of drama in every track, often leaning into the 'dark pop' aesthetic without sacrificing the infectious hooks that make her work accessible. It is music that occupies the space between a neon-lit dance floor and a gothic theater.
What truly sets her apart is the intersection of her filmmaking background and her songwriting. Her lyrics often tackle heavy, complex themes - autonomy, trauma, and the subversion of social expectations - delivered with a vocal style that ranges from a conspiratorial whisper to a powerful, theatrical belt. There is a cinematic weight to her production that feels intentional and narrative-driven, likely informed by her work in the horror genre.
Start with 'Angry Too' to experience her signature blend of righteous indignation and polished pop sensibility. It serves as the perfect entry point for her world of 'technicolor noir,' showcasing her ability to turn personal and systemic frustrations into a grand, cathartic anthem. From there, move into 'Here Come the Wolves' to hear her lean further into the atmospheric, predatory tension that defines her later work.
