Lokua Kanza

Lokua Kanza is a pivotal figure in the Democratic Republic of Congo's musical history, representing a sophisticated departure from the dominant rumba and soukous traditions. Born Pascal Lokua Kanza in 1958, his sound is a unique synthesis of his Mongo and Tutsi heritage, his early training at the National Institute of Arts in Kinshasa, and his later immersion in the Paris jazz and world music scenes.
