Explosive Portuguese alternative rock built on walls of feedback and poetic grit. Intense, melodic noise that feels like a sudden release of long-held tension.
Linda Martini sounds like the physical sensation of a heavy storm breaking over a city. It is music built on the architecture of noise, where distorted guitars are not just background fuzz but structural elements that build into massive, towering crescendos. There is a specific tension in their sound, a push and pull between melodic sensitivity and an almost violent urge to deconstruct the song through feedback and crashing percussion. It feels urgent, raw, and deeply rooted in a specific urban melancholy.
What truly sets them apart is the interplay between André Henriques' vulnerable, often spoken-then-shouted vocals and Cláudia Guerreiro's driving, melodic bass work. They avoid the clichés of radio rock by leaning into post-rock dynamics, allowing songs to breathe and expand before collapsing into chaotic, beautiful noise. The lyrics, delivered in Portuguese, carry a weight of existential grit and social observation that makes the sonic aggression feel purposeful rather than performative.
Start with 'Casa Ocupada' to understand their peak power. It captures the band at their most cohesive, blending the anthemic energy of alternative rock with the experimental textures of noise rock. If you want something more recent and polished but no less intense, 'ERRÔR' shows their evolution into a more atmospheric, yet equally heavy, sonic territory.
