Ethereal vocals meet virtuosic violin in a cinematic blend of art-pop and chamber rock. Perfect for late-night reflection and stargazing.
Lili Haydn creates a sound that feels like a bridge between a classical conservatory and a psychedelic rock club. Her music is anchored by her extraordinary violin playing, which can shift from a whisper-quiet weep to a fiery, Hendrix-inspired shred in a single phrase. The arrangements are often lush and cinematic, reflecting her deep background in film scoring, yet they remain grounded in the intimacy of the singer-songwriter tradition.
What truly sets her apart is the 'liquid' quality of her compositions. She treats the violin not just as a lead instrument, but as a second voice that harmonizes, argues, and dances with her own breathy, ethereal vocals. There is a sense of restless curiosity in her work, blending elements of jazz-funk, world music, and baroque pop into something that feels both ancient and modern.
Start with 'Place Between Places' to hear her at her most accessible and polished. It captures the perfect balance of her pop sensibilities and her instrumental mastery, offering a gateway into a world where the violin is the ultimate emotional storyteller.
