Leftover Salmon

Leftover Salmon is a foundational pillar of the 'jamgrass' movement, emerging from Boulder, Colorado, in 1989. Formed from the merger of the Salmon Heads and the Left Hand String Band, they pioneered a hybrid sound that integrated bluegrass, rock, country, and Cajun/Zydeco.

This 'Polyethnic Cajun Slamgrass' provided a blueprint for later acts like The String Cheese Incident and Yonder Mountain String Band. E. tour, bridging the gap between traditional folk circles and the burgeoning jam band scene. The band's history is marked by resilience, particularly following the 2002 passing of founding banjoist Mark Vann, whose seat was later filled by virtuosos like Noam Pikelny. Critically, they are lauded for their technical proficiency and their role in revitalizing acoustic music for a younger, rock-oriented audience. Their influence is visible in the modern 'Newgrass' explosion, maintaining a career that spans over three decades of consistent touring and studio experimentation.
