Kult

Kult is an Italian black metal entity formed in 2002 by Werewolf and Kacele, emerging as a reactionary force against the symphonic and commercial trends dominating the genre at the time. Their sound identity is rooted in the 'Raw Black Metal' philosophy, emphasizing a rejection of keyboards and female vocals in favor of a traditional, aggressive power-trio format.

Their debut, 'Winds of War' (2006), established their reputation for high-speed, dissonant compositions, partially recorded with Aphazel of Ancient. Over their career, they have moved toward a more cavernous and atmospheric production style, as heard on 'Unleashed From Dismal Light' (2013). Culturally, they occupy a space within the 'orthodox' black metal movement, often associated with the Debemur Morti label. Critical consensus highlights their ability to maintain a 'primitive' energy while executing complex, technical drumming and layered guitar work. They are a bridge between the second-wave Norwegian sound and the more modern, dissonant French and Italian schools of extreme metal.
