Krause is a noise rock quartet hailing from Athens, Greece, formed in late 2015. They represent a pivotal branch of the Greek underground, blending the abrasive traditions of 90s AmRep-style noise rock with modern sludge and post-hardcore sensibilities.
Their debut LP, '2AM Thoughts' (2017), established their signature sound: a combination of dissonant, feedback-laden guitar work and a rhythm section characterized by industrial-strength repetition. Their follow-up, 'The Ecstasy of Infinite Sterility' (2019), further refined this aesthetic, leaning into darker, more nihilistic themes and even denser production. Critically, they are recognized for their uncompromising intensity and their ability to translate urban decay into a sonic format. They occupy a similar cultural space to bands like Unsane or Pissed Jeans but carry a specific Mediterranean bleakness that is entirely their own.
