Karma

Karma is a German electronic project, primarily associated with the producer and musician team active since the mid-1990s. Emerging during the height of the European lounge and downtempo movement, Karma carved out a niche by blending acid jazz sensibilities with the emerging 'chill-out' aesthetic of the era.

Their sound identity is built on a foundation of high-fidelity production, featuring warm analog textures, subtle jazz instrumentation, and a focus on rhythmic consistency. Unlike their more experimental IDM contemporaries, Karma prioritized groove and atmosphere, aligning them with the 'Cafe del Mar' and 'Hotel Costes' school of electronic music. Throughout the late 90s and early 2000s, they released a series of influential albums like 'Thrillseekers' and 'Modifications' that defined the sophisticated lounge sound. Critically, they are viewed as masters of the 'vibe' album, creating cohesive sonic environments that serve as functional background music while rewarding deep listening with intricate layering.
