Kaleida

Icy, minimalist synth-pop with a noir heartbeat. Breathy vocals float over sharp digital pulses, perfect for late-night city drives and quiet contemplation.

Intro

Kaleida crafts a sound that feels like a high-end architectural space at midnight: sleek, cool to the touch, and intentionally sparse. Their music is built on the interplay between Cicely Goulder’s precise, often skeletal electronic arrangements and Christina Wood’s hauntingly controlled vocals. It is a world of shadows and sharp edges, where every synth stab and drum machine click is placed with surgical intent, creating a sense of deep, unhurried tension.

What sets them apart is the specific 'liquid' quality of their production. While many electropop acts lean into dancefloor maximalism, Kaleida retreats into a more intimate, noir-influenced territory. Wood’s voice possesses a unique operatic weight that she delivers in a hushed, breathy style, making the lyrics feel like secrets shared in a crowded room. The result is a sophisticated brand of dream pop that feels both futuristic and deeply rooted in a classic, cinematic melancholy.

Newcomers should start with the 'Think' EP, particularly the title track, which famously underscored the neon-soaked violence of John Wick. From there, move to their debut album 'Tear the Roots' to hear how they expand their minimalist palette into more organic, woodsy textures without losing their signature digital chill.

Kaleida are an English-German duo formed in 2013. The band consists of vocalist Christina Wood and keyboardist Cicely Goulder. Kaleida released their debut EP, Think, in 2015, followed by Detune in 2016. This was followed by their first album, Tear the Roots, in 2017 and Odyssey in 2020. Their third album, In Arms, came out in 2024. In 2014, the band's title track from their debut EP appeared on the soundtrack of the action film John Wick. They have been featured on numerous other TV shows, Netflix series, and the movie Atomic Blonde.
