Sun-drenched prairie folk with a vintage British psych-rock edge. Intimate vocals and intricate fingerpicking for quiet mornings and long drives through the hills.
Kacy & Clayton sound like a lost 1970s folk-rock record found in a dusty Saskatchewan farmhouse. Their music is anchored by Clayton Linthicum's masterful, fluid guitar work, which bridges the gap between Appalachian fingerpicking and the psychedelic jangle of the British folk revival. Kacy Anderson's vocals are crystalline and steady, possessing a haunting, matter-of-fact quality that makes even their darkest lyrical tales feel like comforting truths.
What truly distinguishes the duo is their ability to inhabit multiple eras at once. They capture the stark, gothic isolation of rural life while maintaining a melodic lightness that keeps the songs from feeling heavy. There is a specific tension between the technical precision of the instrumentation and the loose, breathable atmosphere of the recordings, often enhanced by the warm, analog production of collaborators like Jeff Tweedy.
Start with 'The Siren's Song' to hear their most polished blend of psych-rock textures and traditional storytelling. If you prefer something more stripped-back and rooted in the soil, 'Strange Country' offers a perfect introduction to their evocative, character-driven songwriting and effortless musical chemistry.
