John Wiese

High-velocity sonic collisions and surgical digital noise. It sounds like a computer having a panic attack in a metal shop. Intense, precise, and deeply physical.

Intro

Listening to John Wiese is like watching a high-speed collision in slow motion through a microscope. His music is a relentless barrage of sonic information, characterized by razor-sharp digital edits, high-frequency squeals, and sudden, jarring shifts in volume and texture. It is not 'background' music; it demands a physical response to its sheer density and unpredictability.

What sets Wiese apart from the broader noise scene is his surgical precision. While many noise artists lean into muddy, analog distortion, Wiese often utilizes a clean, digital aesthetic where every crackle and burst of static feels intentionally placed. His work with Sissy Spacek brings a 'concrète grindcore' sensibility to his solo output, resulting in compositions that feel both chaotic and meticulously engineered.

For those new to his catalog, 'Deviate From Balance' is the essential starting point. It showcases his ability to balance pure abrasive force with a sophisticated sense of spatial arrangement. It is an exhausting but exhilarating experience that redefines what electronic music can be when stripped of melody and traditional rhythm.
