Intro

JAWS creates a sound that is fundamentally tied to the feeling of transition. It is the sonic equivalent of that hour just before the sun disappears, where everything is bathed in a warm, slightly distorted glow. Their music sits at the intersection of jangly indie pop and the more expansive, atmospheric textures of shoegaze, resulting in songs that feel both intimate and vast. The guitars are almost always drenched in chorus and reverb, creating a shimmering surface that masks a deeper, more contemplative core.

What truly sets them apart is their ability to capture 'suburban nostalgia' without falling into cliché. While their contemporaries in the B-Town scene often leaned into chaotic energy, JAWS opted for a more polished, melodic approach that prioritizes mood over muscle. There is a distinctive 'haziness' to their production that makes the music feel like it is being remembered rather than just heard, a quality that resonates deeply with listeners who find beauty in the bittersweet.

For those new to the band, their debut album 'Be Slowly' is the essential starting point. It perfectly encapsulates their signature blend of upbeat rhythms and melancholic undertones. From there, 'The Ceiling' offers a more mature, slightly darker exploration of their sound, proving that their brand of dream-pop has significant emotional staying power beyond the initial summer high.

JAWS were an English indie rock band formed in Birmingham, England in 2012 after singer Connor Schofield had posted a demo (Cameron) online that received enough positive feedback to encourage him to start a band with friends from Halesowen College. They have often been identified as part of the Digbeth-based B-Town scene. JAWS have published two EPs and three full length LPs so far. The B-side of "Surround You"—"Stay In" featuring on the Ubisoft game Rocksmith 2014. "Gold" was featured in an episode of Hollyoaks. They have toured with The Twang, Peace, Swim Deep, Spector as well as various support slots. In December 2013, the band announced via their Facebook page that they would be recording a full studio album in 2014 partially funded by the PRS. In April, they released the single "Think Too Much, Feel Too Little". In June 2014, the band announced their debut album "Be Slowly" would be released on 15 September that year. The band announced over Twitter a tour in September, stopping at Birmingham, Newcastle, Glasgow and plenty more, supported by Fickle Friends, Milk Teeth and Brawlers. On 27 April 2015, JAWS shared the standalone single "Bad Company" via Huw Stephens Radio 1 show.
