Inanna is the primary dark ambient and industrial outlet for Swedish musician Mikael Stavöstrand, a key figure in the Nordic post-industrial landscape who also gained notoriety through his work in Archon Satani. Established in 1990, the project emerged during a fertile period for Swedish electronic music, bridging the gap between the aggressive power electronics of the era and the more meditative, 'ritual' ambient sounds that would define the decade.

Stavöstrand's work under this moniker is characterized by a masterful use of analog hardware, tape manipulation, and a focus on low-end frequencies that create a sense of physical pressure. Throughout the 1990s, Inanna released a string of influential tapes and CDs on seminal labels like Cold Meat Industry and his own Staalplaat-adjacent circles.
