Intro

In Fear and Faith delivers a sound that feels like a collision between a high-octane metalcore show and a gothic opera house. Their music is defined by a constant tension between the brutal and the beautiful, where jagged guitar riffs and guttural screams are frequently interrupted by delicate, cascading piano melodies and cinematic orchestral arrangements. It is music that demands your full attention, filling the room with a sense of urgent, sweeping drama.

What truly sets them apart is their commitment to theatricality without sacrificing the raw energy of the San Diego hardcore scene. While many of their peers relied on standard verse-chorus structures, this band leaned into complex arrangements, using dual-vocalist dynamics to create a conversational, almost narrative feel. The integration of keyboards and symphonic elements isn't just window dressing; it's a foundational part of their songwriting that adds a layer of sophistication to the typical breakdown-heavy genre.

For those new to the band, their debut full-length 'Your World on Fire' is the essential starting point, capturing the peak of the late-2000s Rise Records aesthetic. If you want to hear their most ambitious work, the 'Symphonies' EP reimagines their heavy tracks with full orchestral backing, proving that their melodies hold up even when the distortion is stripped away.

In Fear and Faith was an American post-hardcore band from San Diego, California. Formed in 2006, the group was signed to Rise Records and released three studio albums and two EPs. Their debut full-length, Your World on Fire, being released nearly a year after the band's signing to Rise in 2008, peaked at No. 193 on the Billboard 200. Their second full-length album, Imperial was released the following year and failed to make that chart, but did chart on the Top Heatseekers and overall Indie chart in the US. The band has undergone many line-up changes since its formation, and does not feature any consistent original members since the departure of guitarist Ramin Niroomand and drummer Mehdi Niroomand in 2014; vocalist Scott Barnes is the only current member of the band to have performed on all of the group's studio albums, though he is not an original member; likewise, although current bassist Tyler McElhany is a founding member of the band himself, he was out of the group from 2011 to 2014 and did not contribute to their third album, In Fear and Faith.
