High-octane Eurodance featuring raggamuffin rap and soaring female hooks. Energetic, synthetic, and unmistakably 90s club culture.
Ice MC is the sound of a 1994 nightclub at 2:00 AM. It is a high-velocity collision between Jamaican-influenced raggamuffin toasting and the polished, synthetic precision of Italian dance production. The music is defined by its relentless four-on-the-floor kick drums, bright piano stabs, and a sense of urgent, kinetic motion that refuses to let the listener stand still.
What truly sets Ice MC apart is the vocal dynamic. Ian Colin Campbell delivers rapid-fire, nasal-toned raps that provide a rhythmic grit, which is then perfectly balanced by soaring, melodic female choruses. This 'beauty and the beast' vocal structure became a blueprint for the Eurodance genre, blending the street-level energy of dancehall with the pop accessibility of house music.
Start with the 'Ice 'n' Green' album, specifically the hit 'Think About the Way.' It perfectly encapsulates the era's obsession with massive synth hooks and infectious, high-energy rhythms. It is the ideal entry point for anyone looking to understand the peak of the Eurodance movement.
Ian Colin Campbell (born 22 March 1965), better known as Ice MC, is a British rapper who started his professional music career in Italy, when he got a record deal signing to record producer and singer Savage and released his debut single "Easy" in 1989. He's best known for the Eurodance 1990s hit singles "Take Away the Colour", "Think About the Way" and "It's a Rainy Day". Ice MC singles are most notable for being the first Eurodance songs to blend raggamuffin rapping style with female singing choruses. Zanetti's music team produced Ice MC hits while also producing songs for other major Italian artists of the same decade, like Double You, Alexia, and Corona.
