Intro

Hexstatic creates music that feels like a living, breathing machine. It is a world where every click, whir, and environmental hum is repurposed into a rhythmic hook. Their sound is deeply rooted in the Ninja Tune aesthetic of the late 90s and early 2000s, blending the laid-back cool of trip-hop with the frantic, precise energy of big beat and electro. It is music that demands you look as much as you listen, even when the visuals aren't present, because the songs themselves are built like cinematic collages.

What truly sets them apart is their obsession with synchronization. While many electronic artists use samples for texture, Hexstatic uses them as the fundamental building blocks of their groove. There is a quirky, almost scientific curiosity to their work, whether they are turning nature sounds into a techno track or remixing 1950s instructional films into a dancefloor filler. It is intellectual but never cold, maintaining a sense of humor and a tactile, hands-on feel that suggests a human touch behind every digital glitch.

Start with 'Master-View' or their collaboration with Coldcut, 'Timber'. These works represent the peak of their audio-visual philosophy, showing how they can take a single concept and stretch it into a compelling, multi-sensory experience. It is the ideal soundtrack for moments when you want to feel like you are living inside a high-definition, slightly surreal documentary about the modern world.

Hexstatic are an English electronic music duo, consisting of Stuart Warren Hill and Robin Brunson, that specializes in creating "quirky audio visual electro." Formed in 1997 after Hill and Brunson met while producing visuals at the Channel 5 launch party, they decided to take over for the original members of the Ninja Tune multimedia collective Hex that had disbanded around the same time. They soon collaborated with Coldcut for the Natural Rhythms Trilogy, including the critically acclaimed A/V single "Timber". Much of their music involves integrated visual experiences, and both of their main album releases have been CD and DVD combinations; the latest, Master-View, includes 3D "anaglyph" versions of some of their music videos and comes packaged with 3D glasses. Hexstatic has also been instrumental in designing VJ equipment, including the Pioneer DVJ-X1 professional DVD player. Other artists they have worked with include Kris Menace, EBN, Juice Aleem and David Byrne of Talking Heads.
