Guerilla Toss

Guerilla Toss is an American art rock band formed in Boston, Massachusetts, in 2011, and later based in New York City. The group's lineup features vocalist Kassie Carlson, drummer Peter Negroponte, guitarist Arian Shafiee, keyboardist Jake Lichter, and bassist Zach Lewellyn. Over their career, they have evolved from a highly abrasive, dissonant no wave and noise rock outfit into a maximalist dance-punk and "hyper-punk" powerhouse, releasing music on prominent independent labels including DFA Records and Sub Pop.

Their sound identity is defined by a unique synthesis of odd time signatures, funk-influenced rhythm sections, and heavy synthesizer integration. Rolling Stone recognized them as one of the "10 Great Modern Punk Bands," and Henry Rollins famously lauded them as "one of the first great bands of the new century." Early on, the band drew heavily from avant-garde composers like John Zorn and György Ligeti, alongside no wave pioneers like James Chance. In their later eras, they incorporated contemporary electronic and pop influences such as Caroline Polachek, Charli XCX, and Boards of Canada. Vocalist Kassie Carlson, whose brother Jonah Jenkins of Only Living Witness was an early musical influence, also hosts Rare Pear Radio on WJFF, showcasing fringe, queer, and female artists.
