Heavy, cinematic rock that feels like a slow-motion storm. Dense layers of desert grit and industrial atmosphere for late nights and deep focus.
Gone Is Gone sounds like the intersection of a film score and a sludge metal basement show. It is music that carries a physical weight, anchored by Troy Sanders' unmistakable gravelly baritone and a rhythm section that feels both mechanical and deeply human. The guitars don't just riff; they create vast, shimmering curtains of sound that occasionally tear open to reveal jagged, aggressive edges.
What makes them distinctive is the 'scoring' background of founders Mike Zarin and Tony Hajjar. Unlike many supergroups that simply jam, this project is obsessed with texture and space. They use synthesizers and electronic processing not as window dressing, but as foundational elements that give their heavy rock a murky, underwater quality. It is the sound of veteran musicians exploring the quiet tension between notes as much as the volume.
Start with their self-titled EP or 'Echolocation' to hear the band at their most cohesive. These records perfectly capture the transition from atmospheric post-rock explorations to the crushing, melodic choruses that reward patient listeners. It is essential listening for anyone who finds the beauty in a heavy, overcast sky.
Gone Is Gone is an American experimental rock supergroup formed in 2016. The band has released one EP and two studio albums to date.
