Godzilla

Godzilla represents the formative years of the French metal titans Gojira, active under this moniker from 1996 until 2001. Based in Bayonne, the band consisted of Joe Duplantier, Mario Duplantier, Christian Andreu, and Jean-Michel Labadie.

Their sound identity during this period was a bridge between the technicality of Florida death metal (Death, Morbid Angel) and a burgeoning interest in environmental and existential themes.
