High-energy electronic rock with a spooky, neon-drenched edge. Glitchy synths meet post-hardcore vocals for a late-night basement party vibe.
Ghost Town sounds like a digital fever dream where the mall goth aesthetic of the mid-2000s collided head-first with the peak of the EDM-pop era. It is music that feels neon-colored and slightly dangerous, characterized by aggressive synthesizer leads, heavy dubstep-influenced drops, and soaring, highly processed vocals that carry the emotional weight of post-hardcore. There is a persistent 'spooky' undertone, like a haunted carnival reimagined as a nightclub.
What truly sets them apart is the 'Ghost Town Tuesday' legacy, a rapid-fire release culture that prioritized immediate, visceral connection over traditional album cycles. Their sound is defined by the interplay between Kevin Ghost's versatile vocal range and Evan Pearce's maximalist electronic production. They manage to make songs about being an outcast feel like massive, inclusive anthems, wrapping themes of lonerism and social anxiety in danceable, high-octane arrangements.
Start with 'Party in the Graveyard' to understand their foundational mix of electronic dance music and rock energy. If you prefer something more polished and hook-heavy, 'The After Party' showcases their growth into a formidable pop-rock force without losing the glitchy, digital grit that made them a staple of the Fueled by Ramen roster.
Ghost Town is an American electronic band from the Hollywood neighborhood of Los Angeles, California. The band formed in September 2012 and was signed to Fueled by Ramen in 2013. The band is made up of vocalist Kevin "Ghost" McCullough and keyboardist Evan Pearce, who left the band for a short period of time beginning in 2015, just a few weeks before the release of their album Evolution. He returned late 2016. From the group's foundation in 2012 until 2017 the band also included drummer MannYtheDrummer and guitarist/backing vocalist Alix Koochaki. Alister Dippner creates artwork for the band's releases and is closely associated with them. Ghost Town Tuesday, or GTT, is an event that lasts over the course of a few weeks each round, and the band releases songs every Tuesday. The band has released three albums, Party in the Graveyard, The After Party, and Evolution, as well as two acoustic EPs, Bare Bones and Tiny Pieces. The After Party charted at No. 135 on the Billboard 200 and reached No. 1 on Billboard Top Heatseekers chart.
