Intro

Gandalf creates music that feels like a panoramic camera sweep across an untouched mountain range. It is deeply rooted in the New Age tradition but possesses a symphonic weight and a progressive rock curiosity that prevents it from becoming mere background noise. The sound is defined by a shimmering clarity, where acoustic strings and electronic pads breathe together in a spacious, reverent mix.

What sets Heinz Strobl apart is his mastery of a massive array of global instruments. You will hear the twang of a sitar or the woody resonance of a charango woven into high-fidelity synthesizer washes. His guitar work often leans into the melodic, echoing the soaring, emotive style of players like Steve Hackett or Mike Oldfield, but always serving a larger, more meditative purpose.

Start with 'Colors of a New Dawn' or 'Journey to an Imaginary Land' if you want to experience his ability to build a world from scratch. These albums are perfect for moments when you need to mentally exit the modern world and inhabit a space of quiet, mythological grandeur.
