Polished Swiss pop that bridges the gap between traditional Alpine melodies and bright, modern radio production. Uplifting, melodic, and deeply wholesome.
Francine Jordi delivers a sound that is the musical equivalent of a clear day in the Swiss Alps. It is bright, expansive, and unapologetically joyful, blending the traditional warmth of Volksmusik with the high-gloss production of modern Schlager. Her voice carries a crystalline clarity that feels both technically precise and warmly accessible, often soaring over arrangements that feature a mix of organic accordions and shimmering synthesizers.
What makes her stand out is her ability to navigate the line between folk tradition and contemporary pop without losing her identity. While many of her peers lean into kitsch, Jordi maintains a certain elegance in her delivery, whether she is singing in German or French. Her music is built on big, infectious choruses and a sense of communal celebration that is designed to fill television studios and festival tents alike.
Start with her 1998 breakthrough 'Das Feuer der Sehnsucht' to hear the roots of her success, then move to 'Im Garten meiner Seele' for a taste of her Eurovision-era sophistication. For her more modern, high-energy sound, the 2018 album 'Ich gehe durch die Hölle für dich' shows her command of the contemporary dance-pop Schlager hybrid.
Francine Jordi (born Francine Lehmann, 24 June 1977) is a Swiss pop singer. As a young child, she sang songs for Japanese tourists in Interlaken. With this musical background she won the German Grand Prix der Volksmusik in 1998 with the song "Das Feuer der Sehnsucht". Jordi subsequently became a star in Switzerland with chart success singing mostly in German and leading to golden records and tours throughout not only Switzerland, but also Germany and Austria. She hosted two TV shows at the ARD. In 2002, she represented Switzerland at the Eurovision Song Contest in Tallinn with a French language song "Dans le jardin de mon âme". In autumn that year, she made a solo tour with her band in Switzerland. As of September 2015, Jordi has been presenter of the long-running TV show, Musikantenstadl.
