Aggressive Polish metal that slams together hardcore punk speed and heavy groove riffs. High-octane music for when you need to move or blow off steam.
Flapjack is a seminal Polish alternative metal band formed in 1993, emerging as a supergroup of sorts from members of Acid Drinkers and other key players in the Poznań scene. Their sound is a bridge between the hardcore punk of the late 80s and the groove/nu-metal explosion of the 90s.
Led by vocalists like Guzik and the guitar work of Litza, the band became a cornerstone of the 'Mocne Uderzenie' (Heavy Hit) movement in Poland. Their early work, specifically 'Ruthless Kick' and 'Fairplay', is characterized by high-tempo aggression, social commentary, and a fusion of rap-like cadences with metal instrumentation. Despite several hiatuses and lineup changes, including the tragic passing of Guzik in 2021, the band's legacy remains influential in Central Europe. They are critically regarded for bringing a Western-style production polish to the raw energy of the Polish underground, influencing subsequent generations of groove and metalcore acts.
