Intro

FKi 1st creates a sound that feels like a high-definition filter applied to the Atlanta trap scene. It is music that captures the friction between the grit of the streets and the polished sheen of global pop. The sonic palette is dominated by heavy, sliding 808s and crisp, rapid-fire percussion, but it is often softened by atmospheric synth pads and melodic vocal treatments that give the tracks a weightless, almost hallucinogenic quality.

What truly sets him apart is his 'Black Diplo' approach, where he treats hip-hop with the structural intensity and textural variety of electronic dance music. He isn't just making beats; he's building soundscapes that utilize glitchy transitions, unexpected tempo shifts, and a sense of space that most trap producers ignore. It is a maximalist philosophy that remains surprisingly catchy and accessible.

For those new to his catalog, starting with 'Tokyo Project' or his work on Post Malone's early hits provides the best entry point. These tracks showcase his ability to craft massive, anthemic hooks while maintaining a cool, detached aesthetic that works just as well in a pair of headphones as it does on a festival stage.

Trocon Markous Roberts Jr. (born November 20, 1989), better known by his stage name FKi 1st, $1T or 1st Down, is an American rapper, singer, songwriter, DJ, and record producer. He first became known as one half of the Atlanta-based production duo FKi with fellow producer SauceLordRich (or Daye Rich), which was formed in 2007. The duo produced for music industry artists in hip-hop and contemporary R&B during the 2010s, resulting in credits on Billboard Hot 100-charting singles such as "Dope" by Tyga, "Watch Out" by 2 Chainz, "Make It Rain", "Bring It Back" and "Ayy Ladies" by Travis Porter, as well as the quadruple platinum-certified single "Weekend" by Mac Miller. In his solo work, Roberts has co-produced the singles "Work" for Iggy Azalea in 2013, "White Iverson" for Post Malone in 2015, co-wrote "Deja Vu" for the artist the following year, and "Pick It Up" for Famous Dex in 2017.
