Field Report

Field Report is the project of Christopher Porterfield, a songwriter whose pedigree is inextricably linked to the 'DeYarmond Edison' circle that included Justin Vernon and the members of Megafaun. Emerging from Milwaukee in 2011, Field Report established a sound defined by hyper-literate, often stream-of-consciousness lyrics delivered with a distinctive baritone that bridges the gap between Bill Callahan and Bruce Springsteen.

Their 2012 debut was a critical darling, positioning them within the 'New Americana' movement alongside peers like Jason Isbell, but with a more experimental, indie-rock edge. The project evolved from a sprawling septet to a tighter, more atmospheric quartet, particularly on the 2014 album 'Marigolden,' which was recorded in rural Ontario. This era saw the introduction of subtle electronic elements and a more expansive, cinematic production style.
