Estate is a Minneapolis-based electronic trio consisting of Dan Kramer, Josh Johnson, and Jessie LesMiester. Emerging in the mid-2000s, they carved out a niche they termed synth-hop, a hybrid genre that bridges the gap between the melodic sensibilities of 80s synth-pop and the rhythmic structures of downtempo hip-hop.

Their sound identity is defined by a heavy reliance on vintage analog synthesizer textures, polished studio production, and a preoccupation with themes of escapism, nostalgia, and coastal aesthetics. Despite being based in the Midwest, their music is deeply associated with sun-drenched, maritime, or urban-night environments. Their career arc saw a peak in underground visibility with the 2006 release of The Vacation, followed by a series of releases like Ascraeus and Estate (2011) that further refined their hi-fi, shimmering sound. Critically, they are often grouped with the chillwave and glo-fi movements of the late 2000s, though their musicianship leans closer to the sophisticated pop of Hall & Oates or The Blue Nile.
