Eastern Conference Champions (ECC) emerged from the Philadelphia scene in 2004, founded by Joshua Ostrander and Greg Lyons following the dissolution of their previous project, Laguardia. Their sound identity is characterized by a blend of gritty garage rock, anthemic indie, and subtle folk-rock undercurrents, often compared to the raw energy of Black Rebel Motorcycle Club or the melodic sensibilities of early Kings of Leon.
Their career arc saw them move from a major label debut, 'Ameritown' (produced by Owen Morris of Oasis fame), to a fiercely independent phase where they self-released the 'Santa Fe EP' and 'Speak-Ahh'. They gained significant cultural visibility through their inclusion on the Twilight Saga: Eclipse soundtrack with the track 'A Million Miles an Hour'. Critically, they are respected for Ostrander's distinctive, gravelly vocal delivery and the band's ability to maintain a high-energy, live-band feel in studio recordings. Ostrander later transitioned into a successful solo career under the moniker Mondo Cozmo, carrying forward the anthemic songwriting style developed in ECC.
