Intro

Down to Nothing delivers a masterclass in the Richmond, Virginia hardcore sound: a relentless blend of speed, rhythmic groove, and confrontational energy. Their music is built on a foundation of driving percussion and thick, palm-muted guitar riffs that transition seamlessly from blistering fast-core tempos into heavy, crowd-moving breakdowns. It is the sound of a community, characterized by its accessibility and its insistence on participation.

What sets DTN apart is their mastery of the 'gang vocal' and their ability to inject a sense of local pride and brotherhood into every track. While many hardcore bands lean into nihilism, DTN maintains a sharp, focused intensity rooted in the Straight Edge philosophy. The production is typically raw and punchy, capturing the kinetic friction of a live performance where the barrier between the band and the audience is non-existent.

Start with 'The Most' or 'Life on the James' to hear the band at their peak. These recordings showcase their ability to balance traditional hardcore punk aggression with the kind of catchy, rhythmic hooks that have made them a staple of the international touring circuit for over two decades.

Down to Nothing (or DTN) was a straight edge hardcore punk band from Richmond, Virginia. Since their inception in 2000, the band has toured all over the world. Their most recent studio recording is the 2013 LP Life on the James on Revelation Records, preceded by CD/vinyl EP titled All My Sons released in 2010 on Reaper Records (US) and Dead Souls Records (AUS). Down to Nothing's first two albums, Save It for the Birds and Splitting Headache, are currently out of print but were re-released in February 2008 on one CD/LP titled Unbreakable. In 2009 singer David Wood joined Terror as bassist and backing vocals, this tenure would last until 2017. Since their appearance in 2019 at the Have Heart reunion shows at the Worcester Palladium, the band has been inactive. Members of Down to Nothing have also played in Terror and Trapped Under Ice.
