Formed in Birmingham in 1978, the British band Dexys Midnight Runners gained prominence during the early 1980s for their soul-influenced new wave and pop sound. Signed to EMI, the group achieved significant international success with chart-topping hits like Come On Eileen. Despite frequent lineup changes throughout their career, co-founder Kevin Rowland remained a constant creative force, leading the ensemble to become a notable part of the Second British Invasion.
