High-octane alternative metal featuring a vocal range that shifts from haunting whispers to guttural roars. Powerful, melodic, and built for the big stage.
Devilskin delivers a massive, arena-ready sound that bridges the gap between traditional hard rock and modern alternative metal. The sonic landscape is dominated by thick, propulsive basslines and searing guitar work that provides a heavy but accessible foundation. It is music that feels physically large, designed to fill stadiums while maintaining a gritty, organic edge that honors their New Zealand roots.
What truly distinguishes the band is the vocal acrobatics of Jennie Skulander. She possesses a rare ability to pivot from delicate, melodic vulnerability to a terrifyingly powerful roar within a single phrase. This contrast creates a sense of constant tension and release, making their songs feel like emotional journeys rather than just standard rock tracks. The rhythm section, anchored by a father-son duo, provides a locked-in, intuitive groove that is rare in the genre.
For those new to the band, their debut 'We Rise' is the essential starting point. It captures the raw energy and melodic sensibility that made them a phenomenon in their home country. It is the perfect choice for listeners who want the technical proficiency of metal paired with the anthemic, sing-along power of classic hard rock.
