Deepfield emerged from Charleston, SC, in the mid-2000s, positioning themselves within the post-grunge and alternative metal landscape. Founded by Baxter Teal, the band secured a deal with In De Goot Recordings after a rapid rise in the industry showcase circuit.
Their sound identity is characterized by a blend of heavy, riff-driven rock and highly melodic vocal arrangements, often compared to contemporaries like Revis and Submersed. Their debut album, Archetypes and Repetition (2007), remains their most culturally significant work, produced by Skidd Mills and Paul Ebersol, who brought the polished Memphis rock sound to the project. Over their career, they have navigated several lineup changes while maintaining a consistent focus on high-production values and guitar-forward compositions.
