High-octane Dutch hardstyle featuring distorted kicks and massive, cinematic synth leads. Pure festival energy designed for maximum impact and relentless movement.
Deepack delivers a masterclass in the classic Dutch hardstyle sound, where the kick drum isn't just a beat, it's a physical force. Their music is characterized by a relentless 150 BPM pulse, layered with heavily distorted 'reverse bass' and 'gated' kicks that provide a unique tonal crunch. Above this rhythmic foundation, they weave together dark, cinematic atmospheres and soaring, trance-influenced melodies that feel tailor-made for massive outdoor stages.
What truly sets them apart is their ability to balance aggression with a sense of triumph. While the percussion is punishing and the 'screech' synths are abrasive, the melodic payoffs are grand and inclusive. They capture the specific 'early hardstyle' transition into the modern era, maintaining a gritty, underground edge while embracing the high-fidelity production standards of the world's largest dance events.
Start with 'The Prophecy', their legendary 2003 Qlimax anthem. It serves as the perfect blueprint for their sound: a brooding, spoken-word introduction that builds into a frenzy of distorted percussion and a melody that defined an entire subculture. From there, move into their later work like 'For The People' to hear how they've polished their signature intensity for the modern era.
Deepack is a hardstyle duo from the Netherlands consisting of Frank Pechler and Marcel Van Der Zwan. The two met in high school in the 1990s, and started producing together directly after they graduated. In 2001, they teamed up with Dutch Hardcore legend Charly Lownoise. Their first releases were on the record label of Dutch party planning organization Q-dance. Deepack have had strong ties with Q-dance, even producing the anthem for their biggest event, Qlimax, in 2003. They founded their own record label called "Hardcopy Recordings" in 2006, where artists like Josh & Wesz and the Stereotuners have had releases. Deepack have collaborated with many hardstyle acts over the years, including D-Block & S-te-Fan, Showtek, and The Prophet. In 2010, they produced a remix of the anthem for the Q-dance party "In Qontrol" under the alias Dock 45, as they wanted a name to organize their house music releases under.
