Glitchy, cinematic electropop that pairs breathy vocals with massive orchestral samples. High-energy indie dance for late nights and city lights.
Dan Black creates a sound that feels like a high-definition dream of a city at night. It is music that occupies the space between a sweaty dance floor and a contemplative walk home, blending the rhythmic swagger of hip-hop with the melodic sensitivity of British indie-pop. His tracks often feature massive, sweeping orchestral samples that provide a sense of cinematic scale, grounded by intricate, glitchy drum programming that keeps the energy sharp and modern.
What truly sets him apart is his vocal delivery: a distinctive, breathy falsetto that feels intimate and vulnerable even when surrounded by maximalist production. He has a unique talent for the 'pop mashup' aesthetic, taking familiar melodic DNA and re-contextualizing it into something that feels entirely his own. The result is a shimmering, synthetic landscape that is both emotionally resonant and physically infectious.
Start with the single 'Symphonies' to hear his signature blend of orchestral grandeur and hip-hop grit. From there, dive into the debut album '((un))' for a full immersion into his starry-eyed, electronic world. It is the perfect soundtrack for moments when you want to feel both small in a big city and completely alive.
