D. Ramirez

Aggressive, neon-soaked electro house with a clinical edge. High-octane club music defined by mechanical precision and heavy, syncopated basslines.

Intro

D. Ramirez delivers a masterclass in high-fidelity club energy, characterized by a sound that is both surgically precise and viscerally aggressive. His tracks often feature a signature 'buzzsaw' synth aesthetic, where jagged, metallic leads cut through dense, driving percussion. It is music that feels like a high-speed chase through a futuristic city, full of mechanical tension and sudden, explosive releases.

What truly sets him apart is his technical obsession with sound design. While many of his contemporaries leaned into the 'fidget' or 'electro' trends with messy distortion, Ramirez maintained a pristine, wide-screen production quality. His work often incorporates tribal-influenced rhythms and complex sidechaining that creates a unique, pumping sensation, making the silence between the beats feel as heavy as the kicks themselves.

For those looking to dive in, 'Colombian Soul' remains the quintessential entry point, showcasing his ability to blend soulful house foundations with a gritty, tech-forward edge. From there, his remix of Bodyrox's 'Yeah Yeah' offers a look at his peak-time mainstream influence, while his more recent 'Slave Recordings' output reveals a deeper, more underground techno sensibility.

D. Ramirez (born Dean Marriott; 13 August 1970) is an English house producer and DJ. He has used a variety of pseudonyms including The Lisa Marie Experience (with Neil Hynde), Cordial, Finger Fest and Rambo. He has achieved five top 20 hits, and appeared on BBC Television's music programme, Top of the Pops. His highest standing in the mainstream music scene was his remix of Bodyrox's "Yeah Yeah", which earned him an Ivor Novello Award nomination.
