Intro

D.I.T.C. is the sonic embodiment of 1990s New York City street culture. Their sound is built on a foundation of 'digging' - the obsessive search for obscure jazz, soul, and funk records to flip into hard-hitting hip-hop anthems. It’s music that feels like concrete and iron, characterized by warm analog hiss, heavy kick drums, and a relentless, rhythmic swing that demands a head-nod.

What sets them apart is the sheer technical prowess of the collective. Each member, from the lyrical gymnastics of Big L to the soulful production of Diamond D, brings a masterclass in their respective craft. They avoided the glossy pop-rap trends of their era, opting instead for a raw, unfiltered aesthetic that prioritized lyrical integrity and sonic purity over commercial appeal.

For those looking to dive in, the self-titled 2000 album is the definitive starting point, showcasing the group's collective chemistry. It’s the perfect soundtrack for anyone who appreciates the art of the sample and the power of a perfectly executed verse.

The Diggin' in the Crates Crew, commonly known as D.I.T.C., is an American hip hop collective formed in 1992 in New York City. The collective's name derives from the act of seeking out records to sample for production. The collective is composed of Lord Finesse, Diamond D, Big L, O.C., Fat Joe, Buckwild, Showbiz and A.G. Ghetto Dwellas Party Arty and D-Flow. Its members have achieved substantial and consistent recognition in underground rap circles, having often collaborated with undiscovered talents and underground hip hop artists alongside mainstream rappers.
