Crescent is a foundational pillar of the Egyptian extreme metal scene, formed in Cairo in 1998 by Ismaeel Attallah and Amr Mokhtar. Originally emerging as a black metal entity influenced by the Swedish melodic scene, particularly Dissection, the band evolved into a sophisticated blackened death metal outfit.
Their sound identity is defined by the integration of 'Oriental' scales and pharaonic themes into a high-fidelity, technical death metal framework. They achieved significant cultural milestones as the first Egyptian band to perform at Wacken Open Air, effectively serving as ambassadors for the Middle Eastern metal underground.
