Crazy P

Crazy P, originally formed in Nottingham in 1995 as Crazy Penis, is a cornerstone of the UK's electronic and nu-disco scenes. Founded by Chris Todd and Jim Baron, the project evolved from a bedroom production duo into a formidable five-piece live band.

This transition was pivotal, allowing them to merge the sampling aesthetic of early house with live instrumentation, specifically prominent bass and guitar work. Their sound identity is built on 'low-slung' grooves, typically sitting in the 110-120 BPM range, which avoids the aggression of techno in favor of a sophisticated, soulful deep house aesthetic. Culturally, they are credited with helping lead the disco revival of the late 2000s, influencing a new generation of producers like Folamour and the Wolf + Lamb collective. Despite their long tenure, they maintained critical relevance by signing to influential labels like Paper Recordings and 2020 Vision. The group is widely respected for their live performances, which translate electronic textures into high-energy stage shows, a feat that has secured them a permanent fixture on the global festival circuit.
