Circle of Dead Children

Abrasive deathgrind that collisions hyper-speed aggression with suffocating doom. Intense, misanthropic, and technically precise metal for the end of the world.

Intro

Listening to Circle of Dead Children is like witnessing a controlled demolition in high-speed photography. It is a suffocating, hyper-kinetic experience that pushes the boundaries of extreme metal by refusing to stay in one lane. The music oscillates between blindingly fast grindcore blasts and sludge-heavy doom passages that feel like being dragged through wet concrete. It is relentlessly heavy, yet there is a strange, poetic intelligence lurking beneath the noise.

What sets them apart is the sheer variety of their sonic assault. While many of their peers in the brutal death metal scene focus on gore and shock, CoDC leans into a more existential, anti-everything philosophy. Their tracks can range from six-second micro-bursts of pure chaos to five-minute epics that incorporate black metal atmosphere and crust punk urgency. Joe Horvath's vocal performance is a standout, shifting from guttural roars to piercing shrieks with terrifying ease.

Start with 'Human Harvest' if you want to hear the band at their most iconic and balanced. It captures the transition from their raw, early grind roots into the more complex, atmospheric beast they became. It is the perfect entry point for anyone who wants their extreme music to have both a high IQ and a high body count.

Circle of Dead Children is an American deathgrind band formed in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1998. After the release of a self-titled demo that was put out the same year they formed, Circle of Dead Children signed on with Willowtip Records to release their debut full-length album, Starving the Vultures, which comprised the demo tracks as well as several new ones. After leaving Willowtip, Circle of Dead Children, one after another, signed to numerous other labels including S.O.A. Records, Robodog Records (now called Robotic Empire), Necropolis Records, Deathvomit Records, Martyr Music Group, Earache Records, Displeased Records and Candlelight Records. Since the group's debut, the band has undergone numerous lineup changes; the only remaining original and consistent member is Joe Horvath.
