Cigarettes for Breakfast

Cigarettes for Breakfast is a Philadelphia-based project led by Matt Whiteford, emerging in 2019 as a bedroom-recording endeavor that evolved into a prominent fixture of the modern DIY shoegaze scene. Their sound identity is defined by a heavy reliance on reverb, delay, and fuzz, drawing direct lineage from the 'holy trinity' of shoegaze (My Bloody Valentine, Slowdive, and The Jesus and Mary Chain) while incorporating the structural patience of post-rock.
