Introspective Australian rap that swaps heavy synths for acoustic guitars and glockenspiels. Melancholic, smart, and deeply human hip-hop for quiet afternoons.
Chance Waters sounds like a conversation with a very smart, slightly exhausted friend who has spent too much time thinking about the universe. The music is built on a foundation of organic instrumentation, often eschewing traditional hip-hop samples for bright acoustic guitars, delicate piano lines, and orchestral flourishes that wouldn't feel out of place on an indie-folk record.
What sets him apart is the tension between his rhythmic, conversational flow and the vulnerability of his lyrics. He manages to be witty and self-deprecating while tackling heavy themes of existential dread and personal failure. It is hip-hop that feels like it was written in a bedroom during a rainy week, prioritizing emotional resonance over club-ready bravado.
Start with the album Infinity, specifically the track Maybe Tomorrow. It perfectly captures his signature blend of upbeat, folk-influenced production and lyrics that explore the messy reality of growing up and facing the future.
