Intro

Cementerio Club sounds like the golden hour of the early 2000s Latin alternative scene. Their music is built on a foundation of clean, jangly electric guitars and warm acoustic strumming, creating a sound that is simultaneously grounded and ethereal. There is a specific kind of Lima-inflected melancholy here, a coastal dampness that translates into lush, melodic arrangements and unhurried tempos.

What truly sets them apart is their mastery of the power-pop hook filtered through a contemplative lens. Unlike their more aggressive punk-influenced peers, Cementerio Club favors vocal harmonies and sophisticated bass lines that give their songs a sense of weight and history. They manage to be catchy without being sugary, maintaining a dignified, slightly detached emotional core that rewards repeated listens.

Start with 'Inmortales' to hear their peak MTV-era melodicism, then move to their 'Aclubstico' sessions to appreciate the raw songwriting strength beneath the studio polish. It is the perfect entry point for anyone looking to explore the more sensitive, artistic side of Peruvian rock history.

Cementerio Club is a Peruvian alternative rock band formed in 1996. That same year, their album "Cementerio Aclubstico ¿Aún Crees En La Magia?" won "Album Of The Year" at MTV. Their bassist/guitar and leader José Arbulú has also released his debut album as a solo career called "Libres", the lead guitar Pedro Solano also has releases his debut album as a solo career called "+ Amor.
