Powerful gospel-inflected vocals meet classic piano house. Uplifting, soulful anthems that feel like a sunrise on a crowded dancefloor.
CeCe Rogers represents the spiritual heart of house music. His sound is defined by a massive, classically trained baritone voice that carries the weight and conviction of a gospel preacher, laid over the driving, rhythmic foundations of Chicago and New Jersey house. It is music that aims for the rafters, combining the raw energy of the club with a deep, soulful humanity.
What truly sets him apart is the marriage of sophisticated songwriting and dancefloor utility. While many house tracks of the era relied on simple loops, Rogers brought full-bodied vocal performances and socially conscious themes to the genre. His work with Marshall Jefferson created the blueprint for 'vocal house,' where the singer is not just a guest but the driving force of the track's emotional arc.
Start with the legendary 'Someday' to hear the definitive house anthem. It captures the perfect balance of 80s drum machines and timeless vocal yearning. From there, move to 'All Join Hands' for a masterclass in how a house track can feel like a communal, religious experience without ever losing its groove.
CeCe Rogers (born Kenneth Jesse Rogers III, April 30, 1962), is an American singer, songwriter and record producer from Cleveland, Ohio. He was given the nickname CeCe by James Brown, who watched him performing at 11 years of age, imitating Chubby Checker. He is considered one of the most popular male vocalists in house music. In 1987, he recorded the track "Someday" in collaboration with Marshall Jefferson, an anthem of house music, having been rated number 3 in Mixmag's 100 Greatest Singles of All Time. His track "All Join Hands" became popular in 1991, after Laurent Garnier began to mix it with Pulsation's "Transpulsation".
